Army Chief Asim Munir says State won’t allow political divisions to fuel hatred

RAWALPINDI — Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir said state will not permit political differences to fuel hatred in society, emphasising that the strong bond between armed forces and public is crucial for countering any efforts to sow discord between them.

Sharing his views at a ceremony at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, Army Chief commemorated Pakistan’s Defence Day, which honors the sacrifices made during the 1965 war against India. The event was attended by top military officials, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, senior government and military officials, and the families of fallen soldiers.

In a statement, Gen Asim said Army and the people of Pakistan share a heartfelt relationship, as he highlighted forces role in various challenges, including confronting foreign threats, fighting terrorism, providing disaster relief, and contributing to national progress.

The top general noted that this enduring bond has always fortified the army’s resolve and led to significant achievements. He asserted that any attempts to undermine national security or create divisions between the army and the people would ultimately be unsuccessful.

COAS reaffirmed that unity between the military and the nation remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s strength and resilience against its adversaries.

He honored the sacrifices of those who have defended the nation, and praised the unwavering support of the Pakistani people and highlighted the exceptional contributions of the armed forces and law enforcement, particularly in KP and Balochistan.

General Munir emphasized the ongoing fight against terrorism and the critical role of the strong bond between the military and the public in ensuring national stability and security.
