Hania Aamir’s deepfake video sparks outrage online

KARACHI – Celebs continue to face deepfake controversy and the latest to fall victim is Pakistani actress Hania Aamir whose AI-generated pictures and videos caused outrage online.

Mere Humsafar star was quick to respond as she addressed the controversy surrounding a deepfake video that recently went viral on different social sites. The AI-generated content portrayed Aamir in an inappropriate manner, which shocked and confused her fans and viewers.

Social media users mistook the clip as real, but it later turned out a deepfake. As the clip started doing rounds online, Hania took to social media to express her concern and call for legal protections against such tech.

The model also urged fans not to be deceived and asked for action against the person behind the shameful act.

Later, an Instagram ID named “Anureet Sandhu,” turned out be culprit behind spreading deepfake clips featuring her. After her appeal for her followers to report the account, it changed names several times in an effort to avoid detection.

It turned out that the account was created in India and listed in Punjab, and had undergone 18 name changes.
