ISLAMABAD – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry held an important press conference on September 5 in which he discussed wide range of topics including army’s self-accountability, insurgency and counter terrorism efforts.

Speaking from garrison city of Rawalpindi, Armed forces spokesperson said law takes its course if any individual from army works for personal gain.

Court Martial of Gen Faiz Hameed

ISPR chief confirmed that court martial proceedings were initiated against former spymaster based on concrete evidence after a detailed investigation. Faiz Hameed was found to have violated multiple sections of the Army Act, leading to his court martial.

Self-Accountability in Pakistan Army

Pakistan Army is committed to a comprehensive, transparent, and time-tested self-accountability process. Officers facing legal action are entitled to legal rights, including representation and the right to appeal.

The military is a national institution with no political agenda, and the Pakistan Army is committed to self-accountability. Lieutenant General Chaudhry emphasized that the Army does not support or oppose any political party and will not compromise on national security.

He noted that the Army’s accountability process is thorough and transparent, relying on concrete evidence rather than mere allegations.

Balochistan Attacks

He said deadly attacks on August 26 aimed to disrupt peace and development in Balochistan. In response, 21 terrorists were killed and 14 security personnel were martyred.

Over 32,000 operation carried out against militants

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said uptick in attacks led to intensified counterterrorism measures and additional financial support from the government.

He said over 32,000 intelligence-based operations have been conducted this year, with significant recent activity leading to the elimination of numerous terrorists.

Armed forces, police, and intelligence agencies conduct more than 130 operations on daily basis. He admitted notable increase in attacks in August, particularly in Balochistan and KP.

At least 90 militants were eliminated in past 30 days in these operaion, he said, adding that the army and LEAs have cleared an area of ​​46,000 square kilometres from terrorists.

No compromise on National Security 

Pakistan’s military’s leadership is dedicated to maintaining security and preventing any compromise on national safety. The rise in terrorism is attributed to inimical forces and malicious actors, with the military vowing to continue their fight against these threats.
