Rabita Forum International (RFI) organized a seminar titled “Youm-e-Fateh-e-Mubeen: Securing the Future Through Peace and Stability” to commemorate Defense Day and reflect on the events and victories of the 1965 war. The event featured a panel of distinguished speakers, including Lt Gen (R) MoinuddinHaider HI (M), Commodore (R) Syed Muhammad Obaidullah, Air Commodore (R) Zahid Ul Hassan, and Dr. UzmaShujaat from the University of Karachi. The seminar was well-attended by individuals from various backgrounds.

Lt Gen (R) MoinuddinHaider recounted Pakistan’s resilience during the 1965 war, despite facing a larger and better-equipped adversary. He credited the nation’s preparedness and strategic alliances, like SEATO and CENTO, for enabling Pakistan to defend itself effectively. Reflecting on his personal experience as a Captain during the conflict, he dispelled the notion that India’s attack was a complete surprise, noting that the Pakistani Armed Forces were already on high alert, having moved to forward posts months earlier. He praised the Armed Forces for their exceptional bravery and professionalism, highlighting the war’s role in shaping national unity, despite the losses and economic fallout. Air Commodore (R) Zahid Ul Hassan focused on the pivotal role of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) during the conflict. He emphasized how, despite limited resources—only three airbases and a small fleet of fighter planes—the PAF successfully outmaneuvered the Indian Air Force, instilling fear in their ranks. He commended the PAF’s enduring spirit and capabilities, which continue to serve as a deterrent. Commodore (R) Syed Muhammad Obaidullah discussed the international support Pakistan received during the war, particularly from countries like Indonesia and Malaysia.
