Mayor Barrister MurtazaWahab, alongside Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, CEO of the Karachi Water Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC), launched a tree plantation campaign on Sunday aimed at enhancing the city’s green cover. The initiative, organized by the Water Corporation, spans from Benazir Bhutto Park to the American Consulate and from Schon Circle to Mai Kolachi.

The campaign saw participation from Member of the Provincial Assembly SaadiaJaved, Mayor’s Political Affairs Spokesperson KaramullahWaqasi, S-III Project Director Nizamuddin Shaikh, Chief Engineer E&M Sewerage Syed Sardar Shah, and other senior officials. Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed emphasized that the KW&SC has planted a variety of trees, with ongoing responsibility for their maintenance and watering falling to the Corporation.

Mayor MurtazaWahab explained that the campaign’s goal is to address climate change and promote environmental sustainability, transforming Karachi into a greener city. He highlighted the initiative’s focus on areas with high pollution and minimal greenery, aiming to improve the environment and reduce pollution levels. “The primary objective of this drive is to beautify Karachi, combat climate change, and enhance air quality,” Mayor Wahab stated. “Trees are the lungs of our city, and it is our duty to expand and protect our green spaces.” He urged all residents to contribute to this effort, striving to make Karachi a more vibrant and healthier city.
