ISLAMABAD – More rains with heavy falls and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Monday night and Tuesday with occasional gaps.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate upper and central parts of Pakistan and likely to strengthen tonight. A westerly wave prevails over upper parts.
Under these weather conditions, more intermittent rains are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast/south Balochistan and upper/southeastern Sindh on Monday night and Tuesday. Isolated heavy falls may also occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region and central Punjab.
Heavy rains may increase flow in local nullas and streams in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and northeast Punjab. Downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar.
Landslides may disrupt traffic in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Moderate rains may generate landslides and increase flows in local nullahs/streams of Dera Ghazi Khan, Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob and Barkhan.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34-36°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 32-34°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershower occurred at isolated places in Kashmir, upper/central Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
