ISLAMABAD – If you are a Pakistani student and are planning to travel to Germany for study purposes, you might face delay as the German Embassy in Islamabad is planning to proceed visas of top performing students amid influx of applications.
A recent announcement by German Embassy said the number of student visa applications for the upcoming winter semester exceeded their processing capacity. As a result, they will likely only be able to handle applications from the most deserving candidates, a report of Pakistani newspaper said.

The clarification comes amid growing annoyance among candidates over delays in securing visa interview appointments, despite having acceptance from German educational institutions.
The report said visa appointment system for Winter Semester opened on May 21, but no appointments have been scheduled for those applying through the normal track. It mentioned that only “fast-track applicants” will be preferred.
The situation stemmed due to current constraints, and will likely only be able to process visa applications from the most deserving students this academic year — specifically those with public scholarships or exceptional academic records.
Despite the grim situation, embassy acknowledged huge interest from Pakistani students in studying in European nation but noted that the volume of applications exceeds the embassy’s resources.
The embassy is working to increase number of visas processed and is exploring potential improvements, they admitted to current limitations. However, they remain hopeful for improvements in future academic years.
