Weather update for Karachi, Hyderabad, Sindh; more heavy rains expected

KARACHI – More widespread rains with gusty winds are expected in Karachi, Hyderabad and most parts of Sindh on Thursday night and remainder of this week with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), deep depression over Rann of Kutch, India will likely intensify into cyclonic storm during next 24 hours. A westerly wave prevails over upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, widespread rains with gusty winds are expected across Sindh on Thursday night and the next three days with occasional gaps.

Scattered heavy to very heavy and isolated extremely heavy falls are expected in Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mityari, Sanghar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu and Nausheroferoze till August 31.

Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu.

Karachi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 29-31°C on Friday and 30-32°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Karachi, Hyderabad and most districts Sindh.

In Karachi, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 92 per cent.

In Hyderabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 31°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 83 per cent.
