ISLAMABAD – The Saudi government has announced a ban on pilgrims with serious health conditions and barred them from performing Hajj, saying that only healthy and fit individuals would be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage.
The media reports said that the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah issued a health advisory to Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs regarding Hajj 2025.
The advisory informed Pakistan that individuals with complex medical conditions would not be permitted to travel for Hajj.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that the Saudi government’s notice specified that, due to the harsh climate conditions, only healthy and robust pilgrims would be granted permission to undertake the Hajj journey.
The patients with severe conditions such as kidney, heart, lung, liver diseases and cancer would not be allowed to perform Hajj.
The spokesperson further mentioned that individuals suffering from dementia and infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis, whooping cough and others, will also be prohibited from performing Hajj.
The children under the age of 12 and pregnant women would not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage.
The spokesperson said that pilgrims would be required to receive vaccinations for diseases such as meningitis, COVID-19, seasonal influenza and polio.
