Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh and In-charge of Rain Emergency, Waqar Mehdi visited District Keamari and District West in Karachi to assess the drainage situation following recent rains. During his visit, Mehdi inspected areas such as Mai Kolachi, MT Khan Road, and KeamariMauripur Road, where he reviewed the water drainage efforts.
He expressed displeasure over the lack of cleanliness at the Mauripur and Machhar Colony drains, instructing the Deputy Commissioner of Keamari to coordinate with the KMC’s Municipal Commissioner for improved cleaning of the drains. Mehdi also directed the Deputy Commissioner to immediately remove illegal encroachments along the Machhar Colony drain. In addition to these areas, he inspected drainage arrangements at Dalda Factory, Shershah Road, Moach Goth Mor, and Baldia Town. His visit also included Yousuf Goth and Gulshan-e-Maymar in District West, where he expressed frustration over delays in KDA development schemes. Mehdi emphasized that these delays have exacerbated problems in the area, urging the KDA to expedite the completion of these projects.
also instructed town and deputy commissioners to draft a plan to improve the sewerage system in Gulshan-e-Maymar. Mehdi assured that all main roads and routes in Keamari and West districts remain open, though he acknowledged that water was still standing in a few locations, with the relevant TMC staff actively working on drainage. He concluded by noting that the Chief Minister of Sindh is personally monitoring the rain emergency, with the entire administration working diligently to address the situation.
