Holiday announced for central Karachi schools tomorrow amid rain emergency

KARACHI – Deputy Commissioner has announced a holiday for all public and private schools in Karachi Central district on August 29 Thursday due to expected heavy rainfall.

The holiday was announced as precautionary measure to prevent school going students from any unwanted incidents.

Karachi School Holiday

Residents are advised to limit travel due to rain forecast. Amid continuous downpour, provincial authorities declared a rain emergency and have put in place strict measures to ensure safety.

Earlier in the day, Hyderbad authorities also announced to shut down all schools tomorrow.

Karachi Rain Update

Sindh Education Department has given deputy commissioners (DCs) the authority to declare holidays in their districts in response to the ongoing rain situation.

A directive has been sent to all DCs due to a powerful monsoon system that has entered the province. This directive empowers the DCs to decide on school closures after consulting with the provincial education department.

Recently, the Meteorological Office indicated that a deep depression located north of Gujrat (India) is expected to move towards eastern Sindh within the next 24 hours.

This weather system is leading to strong monsoon currents affecting the country, particularly in the southern regions. Additionally, a westerly wave is projected to influence the upper parts of the country starting from the 29th.
