Captain Shakeel ur Rehman MBE, a former Pakistan Army officer, has been awarded an honorary MBE in recognition of his contributions to UK-Pakistan relations.

Shakeel remained with British High Commission since 2005, and received the award from British High Commissioner Jane Marriott. Over his tenure, he has served under seven High Commissioners and managed security for numerous UK Ministerial and Royal visits.

Before his role at the British High Commission, Captain Rehman served in the Pakistan Army from September 1989 to May 2002, holding positions such as Company Commander, Staff Captain, and MTO Infantry Battalion.

Captain Rehman’s notable achievements include his critical response during the 2006 Islamabad earthquake, where he was among the first to assist at Shifa Hospital, supporting British High Commission staff. He also played a key role in securing Royal visits in 2006 and 2019 and managed security during visits from Prime Ministers Tony Blair and David Cameron.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE praised Captain Rehman’s exceptional dedication, stating, “Ensuring the safety of our personnel is a top priority for the High Commission. Captain Rehman has consistently gone above and beyond, and his kindness and positive demeanor make him a pleasure to work with. We are thrilled to see his efforts acknowledged.”

Captain Shakeel ur Rehman MBE expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from His Majesty King Charles III. This award reflects the collective hard work and dedication of many, and I am proud to be part of a community dedicated to excellence.”

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, established by King George V in 1917, honors individuals for their significant contributions to the Arts, Sciences, Charitable work, and Public Service.
