PM’s Youth Development Programme to put country in right direction: Rana Mashhood

Chairman PM’s Youth Development Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan in conversation with Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer Mr Faisal Zahid Malik who along with Chief of Digital Media & Strategy of Pakistan Observer, Mr Saud Faisal Malik called on Rana Mashhood at his office in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat here Tuesday.

 

Chairman Prime Minister Youth Programme and seasoned politician Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said the future of Pakistan is in the hands of its youth and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is determined to empower Pakistan’s young generation through multiple initiatives.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer Mr Faisal Zahid Malik who along with Chief of Digital Media & Strategy of Pakistan Observer, Mr Saud Faisal Malik called on him on Tuesday to discuss youth’s potential and their role in nation-building. Matters of mutual interest were also discussed on the occasion.

Rana Mashhood said there were ample opportunities available at the national and the international levels for the Pakistani youths to excel in various fields and take the country forward by dint of hard work, passion, perseverance and resilience.

Rana Mashhood who has earlier served on a number of key posts including Education Minister of Punjab said the federal government was going to set up a National Youth Council to include the youth in the policy-making, development and governance engagements.

We are dedicated to preparing our youth to excel in diverse fields, from technology-driven industries to traditional crafts, he said. For this purpose the National Volunteer Corps will be set up soon, he added.

He emphasized that it was the government’s job to provide suitable platforms and facilitate young minds. “We did this in the past too when we introduced in the Punjab a number of youth initiatives of which we are proud,” he said.

While commending the role and contribution of Daily Pakistan Observer in promoting the pro-Pakistan policies at all levels, Rana Mashhood said the media played vital role by highlighting social ills and other malpractices. I am happy that Pakistan Observer is playing its role in a professional and efficient way, he said. He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a clear vision for the youth that is why during his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, the provincial government had introduced the first Youth Policy in 2010, he said

He referred to various initiatives for the youth uplift programme that included: Distribution of laptops, establishment of the Punjab Education Endowment Fund, Daanish schools, and the youth’s skill development.

Rana Mashhood said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was working for economic revival of the country.

Earlier, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for empowering youth through skill development and extra grants for the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Education particularly the higher education sector should be the government’s top priority for the wholesome development, he said.

Rana Mashhood agreed to his point of view and expressed the hope that from the next financial year, grants for universities would be significantly increased. “We are trying to give all available opportunities to our youth so that they can show their talent and skill to the world,” he said.

Later, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan presented a shield of the PM’s Youth Programme to Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Mr Faisal Zahid Malik in recognition of the good, positive work his media group was doing for the empowerment of youth.
