PESHAWAR  –  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that he refused to postpone the Islamabad rally scheduled for August 22 and declined to speak to PTI founder Imran Khan over the phone.

In an interview, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur mentioned that the establishment had contacted him regarding postponing the Islamabad rally.

“The establishment did not contact me at a lower level,” he said, “I am a Chief Minister, so I was contacted at the appropriate level.”

Ali Amin Gandapur further stated, “On August 22, I refused to postpone the rally and also refused to speak to the PTI founder over the phone. I had told them to either bring the PTI founder to me or arrange a video call with him.”

It should be noted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had announced a rally in Islamabad for August 22.

However, on the morning of August 22, Azam Swati, accompanied by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali, addressed the media and announced the postponement of the rally, which sparked anger among the party workers. Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, also lashed out at PTI leaders over the matter.

On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Aqeel Malik said that the government had contacted Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur regarding the security situation.

An official communication took place, and the government informed Ali Amin Gandapur about the situation, and asked him to cancel the rally.

Following this, Ali Amin Gandapur made contact with the PTI founder, who then held a meeting with party leaders the next day to reassess the security situation.
