ISLAMABAD – The Utility Store employees on Monday staged a protest outside their headquarters in Islamabad in reaction to possible closure of the stores across the country.
The employees gathered outside the Utility Store headquarters and held a sit-in while chanting slogans against the government authorities.
Under the government’s right-sizing plan, there have been proposals to close Utility Stores which the employees to protest.
“All employees are protesting today. We do not accept the government’s decision to close the stores and demand an immediate reversal of the decision,” said Utility Store Union leader Arif Shah.
He called for regularization of daily wage and contract employees, an increase in salaries, which have not been raised for the past four years, and the implementation of a 100% salary increase.
The protest would continue until all demands are met.
