Terrorist’s ambush at a security check post in restive Kurram tribal district on Sunday led to the martyrdom of at least one man in uniform while a couple others sustained serious injuries.
“Unknown terrorists launched an attack on a Police Check post in Central Kurram with sophisticated weapons and then set ablaze the post that led to the martyrdom of at least one Policeman while a couple others received serious wounds”. The Police authorities of Kurram tribal district said.
The law enforcers, who rushed to the site of the attack, shifted the victims to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sadda in Central Kurram where a cop identified as Quwwat Khan was pronounced dead. Another cop namely Constable Shahzad, who sustained serious wounds was admitted for treatment.
There were , however, no reports of losses on part of the attackers who fled after launching the assault. Later the funeral prayers of the martyred policeman were offered in the Police lines.
Kurram tribal district has been in the grip of terrorists activities since long and hardly ten days back the Pakistan Army led security Forces, it may be recalled, gunned down seven terrorists and wounded five others during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Kurram district the reported presence of Khwarij militants in the region.
