ISLAMABAD – Significant monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a well-marked low pressure lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh and surroundings, and moving westwards. Due to this low-pressure system, strong monsoon currents are expected to penetrate southern parts of the country from tonight and in upper parts from tomorrow evening/night.

Under these conditions, significant rains are predicted in the twin cities, Sindh, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast/South Punjab, Pothohar region, Northeast/South Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday night and the next two days with occasional gaps.

Isolated heavy falls with gusty winds/windstorms are likely in southeastern/lower Sindh during this period. Torrential rains may cause inundation in low-lying areas of southeast/lower Sindh from 26th to 28th August. Gusty winds/windstorms and lightning may damage weak structures like electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Monday and 34-36°C on Tuesday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34-36°C on Monday and 33-35°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Southeastern Sindh, Southeastern Balochistan, northeastern Punjab and Kashmir during the last 24 hours.
