Petrol prices in Pakistan from September 1 after expected fortnightly cut

ISLAMABAD – The petrol and diesel prices are likely to witness a decrease for their consecutive fortnight, starting from September 1, amid drop in international prices.

The federal government will revise the petroleum prices on August 31 with new prices coming into effect from first of September till 15th.

Reports said the petrol prices declined to $80.40 per barrel in international market while the diesel price remained stood at $885 per barrel. Furthermore, the Pakistani rupee has strengthened against the US dollar in local market, creating hopes for another cut in the local petroleum prices.

It is estimated that the prices of petrol and diesel would drop by Rs5-6 per litre from September 1 in Pakistan, providing more relief to masses.

Current Petrol Prices in Pakistan Till August 31

Currently, the petrol price in Pakistan stands at Rs260.96 per litre while diesel is being sold for Rs266.7 per litre.

Previously, petrol prices were announced in contrast to usual fortnight review – that used to be held on mid-month – but the federal government announced new petrol price earlier this time as a gift for masses on eve of Independence Day.

Expected Petrol Prices in Pakistan from Sept 1

Reports said the petrol and diesel price would be dropped by Rs5-6 per litre for first half of September 2024.

The expected petrol price would be Rs255.96 per litre if Rs5 cut is approved and it would be Rs254.96 if a decrease of Rs6 is approved by the government.

Similarly, the per litre diesel price would be Rs261.7 in case of Rs5 per litre decrease while it will be Rs260.7 if a decline of Rs6 is nodded.
