The authorities of coastal areas of the Sindh province have barred the fishermen from going into the Arabian Sea in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
They have urged the fishermen community to show responsibility and not violate the government’s orders. “Strict action will be taken against the fishermen who violated Covid-19 safety rules,” it was warned.
The sources said in order to prevent coronavirus from spreading in the coastal localities, thefishermen should join hands with the administration by not holding public gatherings.
“We have been taking all decisions in best interest of the people of the fishing community,” the authorities said.
“Instead of fishing in the sea fishermen should stay at their homes during the lockdown,” the administration have said.
The authorities have ordered release of all fishermen who had been detained by law enforcement agencies
for violating the lockdown after screening and testing them for coronavirus.
