LAHORE – Punjab government has announced bounties of up to Rs10 million for capturing the most dangerous Kacha dacoits, in fresh bid to combat these criminals after Rahim Yar Khan incident.

This initiative follows a violent attack on a police van that killed over 12 officers, leading to a shake-up in police leadership in Rahim Yar Khan.

Despite billions spent on past operations, the bandits have remained a persistent threat, often reappearing stronger after attempts to capture them.

Punjab government is intensifying its operations with additional police forces and advanced technology, pledging continued support to secure the region and eliminate the bandits.

Notorious gangs, known for kidnappings and murders, are in Katcha region to escape law enforcement.

A day after attack, police announced that they had killed the alleged mastermind behind the recent attack on law enforcement in the Katcha area of Rahim Yar Khan. The attack, which involved a band of dacoits using rocket launchers and gunfire near Machka police camp II, resulted in the deaths of twelve policemen and injuries to eight others.

Punjab police spokesperson said law enforcement teams conducted an operation that led to the death of the main suspect, Bashir Shar. The operation also injured five of Shar’s accomplices, including Naseer and Gadik

Recent incident was condemned by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif who expressed deep sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of police personnel in the attack. PM prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and patience for their families.

The premier directed that those responsible for the attack be identified and brought to justice. He commended police officers and personnel for their dedication and courage in combating criminals regardless of personal risk.
