Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi attends funeral of Rahim Yar Khan Police Martyrs

LAHORE – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Rahim Yar Khan to attend the funeral prayers for 12 police officers who were killed in an attack by bandits in the Kacha area.

The funeral was held at the Police Lines Rahim Yar Khan, and was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Inspector General of Police Punjab, DG Rangers Punjab, and the Home Secretary Punjab.

During his visit, Naqvi paid his respects to the fallen officers, describing their sacrifice as a significant loss and pledging that they would be remembered with honor. He also visited the Sheikh Zayed Hospital, where he met with the injured officers, praised their courage, and instructed the hospital to provide them with the best medical care.

In a press briefing at the hospital, Naqvi announced that the deceased officers would be posthumously awarded the Tamgha-e-Shujaat (Medal of Bravery) and vowed that those responsible for the attack would face harsh and exemplary punishment. He termed the attack a grave tragedy for Pakistan and assured continued federal support.

Naqvi also led a high-level meeting at Rahim Yar Khan Airport, where he was briefed by the Punjab Police, Punjab Rangers, and Sindh Police about the incident. He emphasized the need for improved security measures and modern equipment for the forces in Kacha and called for strict adherence to standard operating procedures. Naqvi committed to a robust response against the attackers and vowed to seek justice for the slain officers.
