Maryam directs drastic action to reduce crimes

Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued a directive to lower the crime rate in every district of the province, emphasizing the need for a safer Punjab.

The orders were given during a high-level meeting where police performance reports were reviewed, along with key performance

indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of police officers.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was attended by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Home Secretary Nurul Amin Mengal, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Additional IG, and other senior officials.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed the importance of ensuring safe travel on all roads and directed authorities to take decisive action to eliminate crime hotspots across the region.

She highlighted the urgent need to curb robbery incidents to protect traders and shopkeepers, stating that such crimes are unacceptable in both small towns and major cities.
The Chief Minister underscored that any incidents of robbery or crime on the roads would hold the respective police officers accountable.
