In a key meeting chaired by Sindh Law Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, discussions were held on the proposed Sindh Control of Narcotics Act 2024, drafted by the cabinet subcommittee. The draft is set to be finalized before being presented for further deliberation in the cabinet meeting.

The session was attended by the Prosecutor and Advocate Generals, along with secretaries from the Law, Excise, and Narcotics Control departments and other officials. During the meeting, the Secretary of Excise and Narcotics Control provided a detailed briefing on the proposals and their significance within the Act under discussion.

The Sindh Law Minister emphasized the urgent need for a strong narcotics control act in the current era, stating that its formulation and enforcement will significantly weaken the drug mafias.

He highlighted that as the Law Minister, it is his duty to enhance legal processes and ensure the approval and implementation of essential laws. Lanjar urged for the swift finalization of the Narcotics Control Act 2024, suggesting that outdated or redundant provisions be removed, and additional recommendations be integrated before the Act is submitted for approval and necessary verification.
