ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday postponed its rally, scheduled to be held in Islamabad’s Tarnol today August 22, after the city administration cancelled the NOC and blocked the roads.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan confirmed the development, stating that the rally will not be held on September 8 in line with the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan.
He said the public gathering had been put off following a meeting with the former prime minister in Adiala Jail.
A day earlier, Islamabad district administration cancelled permission for a rally in the capital city.
This decision, communicated by the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, followed advice from the District Intelligence Committee.
Chief Commissioner held meeting on Wednesday with Inspector General of Police (IG) Islamabad and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, where the No Objection Certificate (NOC) previously granted by the DC was reviewed.
Police officials raised security concerns due to multiple events. As a result, the Chief Commissioner decided to revoke the NOC issued on July 31.
The concerns include a planned protest in front of the Supreme Court related to the Mubarak Sani case and the upcoming arrival of the Bangladesh Cricket team.
