Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi AmeerMunemZafar has called for an urgent investigation into the state of Karachi’s road infrastructure following light rains that have left much of the city’s road network in poor condition. Zafar criticized the “occupation mayor” for considering new tenders while failing to address the root causes of the deteriorating road conditions. He cited Jahangir Road as a particular example, noting its continued disrepair despite repeated resurfacing efforts.
Zafar also pointed to the poor state of roads constructed under the CLICK program, which have rapidly deteriorated after recent rains. He suggested that the damage indicates underlying issues of corruption, mismanagement, and kickbacks. The JI leader referenced media reports highlighting health problems caused by the damaged roads, especially for motorcyclists. He accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government in Sindh of failing to maintain road quality despite significant annual expenditures on road carpeting. Zafar emphasized that Karachi, which contributes 90 percent to the provincial budget.
