Pakistan and India’s famous Wagah border holds theatrical ceremony on regular days where charged troops from both sides engage in a dramatic parade, but it is not going to be happed this year on Independence Day (August 14).

Wagah Border Parade Cancelled?

As the nation is gearing up for the Independence Day Parade, Wagah Border will not be accessible to the people for the flag-lowering ceremony due to construction work at Bab-e-Azadi.

The renovation project is going on, with extensive upgrades to Bab-e-Azadi and its surrounding facilities. The massive construction work is being done to expand parade ground as it will accommodate around 18,000 spectators, and the parking area will be enlarged.

After completion, Bab-e-Azadi structure is said to reach a height of approximately 120 feet.

This year’s Independence Day parade by Pakistan Rangers Punjab and flag-lowering ceremony will be restricted to selected guests. Public has been informed of these limitations via banners posted at the location.

The renovation work was started earlier this year under the watch of then caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi who started the project to renovate and expand Bab-e-Azadi.
