Opposition parties agree to give tough time to govt

ISLAMABAD – In a major development, the opposition parties gathered in Islamabad for an important meeting, where they agreed to present a united front against the government.

The opposition parties also promised to give it a tough time in the coming days.

The  prominent political figures including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, leader of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), and Mohammad Ali Durrani. Representing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar Ali, Omar Ayub, and Asad Qaiser were also present.

Jamaat-e-Islami and the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-Mengal) also took part in the meeting.

The meeting focused on the overall political climate of the country, with a detailed discussion on the opposition’s ongoing movement against the government.

According to inside sources, the meeting also touched upon the formulation of Terms of Reference (TORs) for a joint strategy among the opposition parties. There was a consensus to finalize the agenda for the opposition alliance, with plans to draft a focused agenda aimed at intensifying pressure on the government.

The participants in the meeting expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s performance, noting its failure to control inflation, lawlessness and economic instability.

They highlighted that the promises made by the current government were not fulfilled.  They said that the time  come to strengthen the opposition’s unity.

Following the meeting, PTI leader Asad Qaiser addressed the media, stating that Maulana Fazlur Rehman had agreed to work together with other opposition forces. He mentioned that a detailed agenda of the meeting would be released at a later stage.
