ISLAMABAD – Murad Sadpara, a Pakistan’s leading climber who had been missing after sustaining injuries on Broad Peak, passed away on Monday.
Ayaz Shigri, Vice President of the Alpine Club, confirmed Sadpara’s death.
Sadpara was injured during his descent from Broad Peak, which stands at 8,047 meters.
The Pakistan Army’s helicopter assisted in transporting four climbers to the base camp and was also involved in efforts to recover Sadpara’s body.
The latest reports suggested that his body has been recovered and is being shifted to a nearby suitable place by an helicopter.
Sadpara had successfully climbed four major peaks, including K-2.
He was leading the ‘K-2 Clean-Up Expedition’ and had also participated in the recovery of Hassan Shigri’s body last year.
