LAHORE – Lieutenant General (retired) Muhammad Aamer is picked for the role of Pakistan’s New Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates UAE.
A report shared by a local publication said the former commander of the Gujranwala Corps was nominated for the coveted role, a year after he completed his service.
The post was previously held by Syed Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, who has been transferred and appointed as the ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU).

The retired army official started his career in the Artillery Regiment of the Pakistan Army, serving in diverse roles. Aamer gained substantial experience as the D.G Staff Duties at the Chief of Army Chief Secretariat, working in both GHQ and command settings.
Interestingly, he also served as military secretary to President Asif Zardari. After his promotion to major-general, he commanded the 10 Infantry Division.
He was promoted to Lt Gen and took the role of Adjutant General at Army General Headquarters. In October 2021, Aamer was appointed as Corps Commander of XXX Corps in Gujranwala, replacing Asim Munir.
