Syed NajmiAlam, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Livestock, Fisheries, and Human Settlement, announced plans to enhance the Sindh Animal Compound Feed Act and the Sindh Animal Diseases Control Act. During a meeting with a delegation from the International Trade Center United Nations Geneva, led by Espon Oliveira Gomes, Director of International Trade Services, Alam outlined the department’s goals for advancing livestock development.
The meeting, which included Robert Skidmore from the Chief Section for Companies Competitiveness, Rizwan Tariq, Provincial Lead for GRASP, and Saqib Ali Khan, Policy Advisor for GRASP, as well as Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr. KazimHussainJatoi, focused on improving animal health and expanding the export of milk and meat.
Alam emphasized efforts to eradicate foot and mouth disease and develop disease-testing laboratories in Sindh. He also addressed the challenges faced by rural livestock owners, including a power crisis in villages, by advocating for the solarization of livestock facilities. Alam stressed the importance of preserving rare animal species and ensuring that animal feed is safe and nutritious.
