India’s Neeraj Chopra secured the silver with 89.45 meters, and Grenada’s Anderson Peters won bronze with 88.54 meters. Notably, six out of seven Pakistani athletes were disqualified from their events.

Arshad started with an unsuccessful first attempt, and put in full effort to set new Olympic record – which is also sxith highest in history.

The previous Olympic record was held by Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen with a throw of 90.57 meters. Meanwhile, India’s Neeraj Chopra also failed his initial throw, which was marked as a ‘No Throw.’

Grenada’s Anderson Peters is in second place with a throw of 87.87 meters, while Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott is third with 86.16 meters.

Pakistan’s hopes for an Olympic medal rested on Nadeem, who is competing for gold today as the country’s sole contender. This event marks Nadeem’s second consecutive appearance in the Olympic final, following a notable fifth-place finish in Tokyo three years ago. In the qualification round on Tuesday, he made an impressive throw of 86.59 meters to secure his spot in the final.

The last time Pakistan won an Olympic medal was in 1992, 32 years ago, when the national hockey team earned bronze by defeating the Netherlands 4-3 at the Barcelona Olympics. Notably, six out of the seven athletes Pakistan sent to the Games have been disqualified from their events.
