LGC to resolve tax dispute between towns

A meeting of the Local Government Commission, chaired by Sindh Minister for Local Government and Chairman of the Commission, Saeed Ghani held on Wednesday. Key attendees included Additional Secretary Local Government and Commission Secretary Syed Khalid Haider Shah, members Abdul Rahim Soomro, Wasim Ahmed Arsani, Ali Ahmed Baloch, Secretary Law, DG Commission AbubakarMadni, and chairmen of various towns including Ibrahim Hyderi Town’s NazirBaloch and Municipal Commissioners from Gadap and other areas.

The meeting primarily focused on resolving a tax collection dispute between Gadap and Ibrahim Hyderi towns concerning livestock. Representatives from both towns presented their positions. Minister SaeedGhani emphasized that the Commission would make decisions in accordance with the law. He noted that previous advice had been given to the towns to resolve the issue through mutual consultation, which had not yet been implemented. Commission has granted both towns an extension until August 20 to settle the dispute through mutual agreement.

They are required to submit their resolution to the Commission by this date, after which a final decision will be made. Additionally, for conflicts in Shah Faisal and Korangi towns, Secretary Law and two Commission members have been directed to meet separately with the chairpersons of these towns and submit their findings to the Commission.
