ISLAMABAD  – Pakistan on Wednesday hoped for a peaceful and swift return to normalcy in Bangladesh.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said Pakistan stands in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh.

She expressed the confidence that the resilient spirit and unity of the Bangladeshi people would lead them towards a harmonious future.

The statement came two days after Sheikh Hasina Wazed left Bangladesh due to nationwide protest against her government.

Over 300 peoples have been killed in the protests. The students launched the protests movement against Hasina’s government over jobs quota system.

The protests turned violent when former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed called the protesters terrorists.

She had ordered use of force against the protesters. However, she failed to control the protesters.

The latest reports suggested that several houses of Awami League leaders have been set on fire. The protesters entered the Prime Minister office and damaged the official residence of Sheikh Hasina Wazed in Dhaka.
