RAWALPINDI –  Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif briefed the nation on the security situation, counter-terrorism efforts, and professional activities of the Pakistan Army.

In a presser in garrison city of Rawalpindi on Monday, the armed forces spokesperson detailed the counter-terrorism operations conducted by Pakistani security forces this year.

He stated that security forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) carried out 23,622 intelligence-based operations, with 2,045 of these conducted in the last 15 days.

In these recent operations, 24 terrorists were eliminated. Lt Gen Sharif emphasized that the Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies, police, and other LEAs conduct over a hundred operations daily to combat terrorism.

Chaudhry also addressed ongoing negotiations with a political party and confirmed that the army’s stance on the May 9 riots remains unchanged.

He criticized the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), accusing it of being linked to terrorist groups and obstructing development projects in Balochistan. The BYC’s recent protests in Gwadar have resulted in arrests and continued demonstrations.

Furthermore, Chaudhry reported that security forces conducted 23,622 operations in 2024, with 24 terrorists eliminated in the last two weeks alone. He also announced a new designation for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as “Fitna al-Khawarij” and reported that 139 soldiers died in the first seven months of the year, underlining the army’s ongoing commitment to national security.
