ISLAMABAD – More intermittent monsoon rains with scattered heavy falls are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday night and during the weekend.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the southern/central parts of Pakistan. They will likely affect the upper parts from Friday (evening/night). A westerly wave will likely affect northern parts of the country from tonight.
Under these conditions, more intermittent monsoon rains with scattered heavy and isolated very heavy falls are likely in the twin cities, Sindh, northeast/southeast Balochistan, Kashmir, Punjab, Potohar Region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday night and during the weekend.
Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bunner, Bannu, Kurrum, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Orakzai, Khyber, Mohmand, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Northeast Punjab and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and Kashmir. Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Nowshera and Peshawar during the weekend. Landslides may disrupt traffic in vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 26-28°C on Saturday and 27-29°C on Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 26-28°C on Saturday and 25-27°C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy to very heavy falls occurred in Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, Kashmir and lower Sindh during the last 24 hours.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. Maximum temperature in Chilas was recorded at 43°C, and Dalbandin at 42°C.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 82 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 76 per cent.
