More intermittent rains likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, parts of Sindh

KARACHI – More rains with isolated heavy falls are likely in Karachi, Hyderabad and parts of Sindh on Thursday night and the next two days with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper/central parts of Pakistan. They will likely affect southern parts from August 02 (evening/night). A westerly wave will likely affect northern parts of the country from tomorrow.

Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds are likely in Mithi, Sanghar, Umer Kot, Tharparker, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Thatta, Badin, Chhor, Padidan, Sajawal, Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu on Thursday night.

On Friday and Saturday, more intermittent rains and gusty winds are likely in Mithi, Sanghar, Umer Kot, Tharparker, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Mityari, Nausheroferoze, Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin, Chhor, Padidan, Sajawal, Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad and Dadu. Few heavy to very heavy falls are also likely during the period.

Karachi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Friday and 32-34°C on Saturday.

Hyderabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34-36°C on Friday and 33-35°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in Karachi and lower Sindh during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the province.

Dadu remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. Maximum temperature in Nawabshah was recorded at 43°C, and Mohenjo-Daro at 42°C.

In Karachi, maximum temperature was recorded at 32°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 82 per cent.

In Hyderabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 68 per cent.
