LAHORE – More intermittent monsoon rains with heavy to very heavy falls are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper/central parts of Pakistan. They will likely affect southern parts from August 02 (evening/night). A westerly wave will likely affect northern parts of the country from tomorrow.
Under these conditions, more intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds with heavy to very heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talgang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Layyah, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal. Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rajanpur and Rahimyar Khan on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
Torrential rains may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Northeast Punjab and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan and Sahiwal from 02nd and 03rd August. Landslides may disrupt traffic in vulnerable hilly areas of Murree and Galliyat during the wet spell.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 29-31°C on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, rain winds/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls occurred in Lahore and upper/central Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Maximum temperature in Dera Ghazi Khan was recorded at 37°C, and Multan at 36°C.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 88 per cent.
