ISLAMABAD – More monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday with occasional gaps.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper/central parts of Pakistan. They will likely affect southern parts from August 02 (evening/night). A westerly wave will likely affect northern parts of the country from tomorrow.
Under these conditions, monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in the twin cities, Kashmir, I Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan and lower Sindh on Thursday night. Heavy to very heavy falls may also occur at scattered places in Islamabad, upper/ eastern Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan and Kashmir during the period.
On Friday and Saturday, more intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in the twin cities, Kashmir, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Sindh and northeastern/southeastern Balochistan. Heavy to very heavy falls may also occur at scattered places in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, eastern Balochistan and Kashmir during the period.
Torrential rains may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bunner, Bannu, Kurrum, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Orakzai, Khyber, Mohmand, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Northeast Punjab and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and Kashmir. Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Nowshera and Peshawar from 02nd and 03rd August. Landslides may disrupt traffic in vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the wet period.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 29-31°C on Friday and Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 29-31°C on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls occurred in upper/central Punjab, northeast Balochistan, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh and Kashmir during the last 24 hours.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. Maximum temperature in Dalbandin was recorded at 45°C, and Dadu at 44°C.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 89 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 82 per cent.
