JI Rawalpindi sit-in against inflated electricity bills enters sixth day

RAWALPINDI – Jamaat-e-Islami sit-in against high electricity bills entered its sixth day at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi on Wednesday (today).

The second round of negotiations between Jamaat-e-Islami and the government is scheduled for today at 3 PM.

Addressing the participants of the sit-in, Jamaat-e-Islami emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman highlighted the financial burden of electricity bills, saying that it is now impossible for 98% of the population to pay their electricity bills.

He posed a stark choice for the people, asking whether they should pay their electricity bills or send their children to school.

JI Chief Hafiz Naeem announced that a sit-in would begin in Karachi on Wednesday (today), and a similar protest in Lahore would be announced soon.

He further stated that the business community supported their cause, and a nationwide wheel-jam strike would be organized based on their advice.
