More intermittent rains likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – More intermittent rains are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper/eastern parts of Pakistan. They will likely approach central/southern parts of the country.

Under these conditions, more monsoon rains are likely in the twin cities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper/central Punjab, southeastern Sindh and Balochistan on Monday night and the next two days with occasional gaps. Heavy falls may also occur in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, northeast/south Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the period.

Heavy falls may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Kashmir, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Koh-e-Sulaiman and adjoining hilly areas of northeast Balochistan on 29th and 30th July. Urban flooding may also occur in the low-lying areas of northeast/south Punjab, Peshawar, Karachi and lower Sindh during the forecast period.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 32-34°C on Tuesday and 33-31°C on Wednesday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 31-33°C on Tuesday and 30-32°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls occurred in Northeast Punjab, Potohar region, Islamabad, southeastern Sindh, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and northeast Balochistan during the last 24 hours.

Sibbi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C. Maximum temperature in Dalbandin and Nokkundi was recorded at 46°C, and Dadu at 45°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 30°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 100 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 30°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 96 per cent.
