ISLAMABAD –  Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel on Monday took oath as ad-hoc judges of the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa administered oath to the retired judges.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Supreme Court judges and Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan.

The appointments of Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel are for a one-year term.

Their appointments as ad-hoc judges were approved during a Judicial Council meeting, after which President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary for their appointments.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf termed the appointment of ad-hoc judges in the Supreme Court as a conspiracy and urged the relevant forum to halt the said appointments.
