PM’s education emergency task force meets today

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a meeting of the National Education Emergency Task Force today (Monday), to address the critical challenges facing the education sector in the country. The meeting will bring together key stakeholders, including provincial education ministers, secretaries of education departments, representatives of multilateral and bilateral partner agencies and other relevant stakeholders. The National Education Emergency Task Force was established to tackle the pressing issues in the education sector, including reducing the number of out of school children improving access, quality, and equity in education.

During the meeting, the participants will discuss strategies to accelerate progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to education, particularly SDG-4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.

It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Sharif had declared National Education Emergency in May this year and pledged to enhance enrolment as reportedly around 26 million children of school going age are currently out of school.
