Weather update for Lahore, Punjab; isolated rains expected

LAHORE – Rains and gusty winds are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Thursday night and Friday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), weak monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate upper/central parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave prevails over upper parts.

Under these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Noorpurthal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalnagar on Thursday night.

On Friday, mainly hot and very humid weather is expected in most districts of the province. However, rains and gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galliyat, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Kasur, Okara and Sheikhupura.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 36-38°C on Friday and 37-39°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in Northeast Punjab.

Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C. Maximum temperature in Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan was recorded at 40°C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 72 per cent.
