ISLAMABAD – WhatsApp users using messaging app on mobile data were facing disruption, and it prompted response from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
As users faced issues while sending and receiving media files using their mobile networks, PTA apparently downplayed the whole event, calling it a technical glitch.
The telecom regulator mentioned receiving complaints about sending and receiving media files other than slow or failed downloads.
As PTA brushed the issue under the carpet, noted monitoring platform Downdetector received reports about WhatsApp outages in Pakistan, with thousands complaining about the dim-out.
Telcos also acknowledged the issue as spokesperson revealed reports of WhatsApp disruptions and are investigating to ensure uninterrupted services. Other telecos also ignored the issue and declined to comment.
