LAHORE – Significant monsoon rains and gusty winds are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate upper/central parts of Pakistan. It will likely strengthen from tomorrow (evening/night). A trough of westerly wave also prevails over upper parts of the country.
Under these weather conditions, monsoon rains and gusty winds are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Noorpurthal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan on Monday night.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, more monsoon rains and gusty winds are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Khushab, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Khanewal, Kasur, Okara, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Heavy falls are also likely in northeast Punjab during the period. Hot and very humid weather is expected elsewhere in the province. Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low lying areas on July 23 and July 24. Landslides may disrupt traffic in vulnerable hilly areas of Murree and Galliyat during the wet spell.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in Lahore and at isolated places in the province.

Kot Addu remained the hottest place in Punjab where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Maximum temperature in Bahawalpur was recorded at 44°C, and Dera Ghazi Khan at 43°C.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 63 per cent.
