ISLAMABAD – Bilal Travels, a private transport company operating a shuttle bus service in the Diplomatic Enclave, reportedly embezzled Rs288 million.
An investigation uncovered serious allegations involving Bilal Travels, a private transport company operating the shuttle bus service in Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave. The company was owned by Haji Nawaz and Amjad, and two men secured lucrative Rs. 96 million per annum contract to manage the Diplomatic Enclave Bus Service, intended to facilitate embassy visitors.
Despite the contract’s requirement for quarterly payments to government treasury, Bilal Travels allegedly failed to deposit the agreed Rs9.5 crores annually over a four-year period.
As per reports, the duo utilize delaying tactics and obtaining court injunctions, with their sources within Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA). During court proceedings, the owners purportedly absconded with the staggering amount.
Despite acknowledgment of breaches, Directorate of Municipal Administration officials did not cancel the contract or levy penalties on Bilal Travels despite the company’s failure to fulfill its financial commitments.
