Team of medical experts from Aga Khan University, working with the CHAMPS (Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance) program initiated by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, met with Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi to discuss strategies for improving child health and reducing mortality rates. The CHAMPS team included Dr. Abdul Momin Qazi, Director of Health for the Government of Sindh, and Dr. Saqib Sheikh.

They briefed Commissioner Naqvi on the program’s goals and ongoing activities. Dr. Qazi explained that Aga Khan University is launching a study in Karachi aimed at enhancing pediatric care and preventing child mortality. The study will involve a survey in Karachi’s Korangi and Malir districts to evaluate the health of children and identify areas needing improvement.

Commissioner Naqvi assured the team of the Karachi administration’s full support for the initiative. The CHAMPS program plans to set up centers in both districts to offer comprehensive healthcare services, including vaccinations, laboratory tests, and diagnoses, to better address child health needs.
