Karachi, Sindh weather update; rains likely on Muharram 9, 10

KARACHI – Intermittent rains and gusty winds are likely in Karachi and parts of Sindh on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday (Muharram 9, 10).

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea will likely penetrate Pakistan on July 16. A trough of westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country. It will likely affect western and southern parts from tonight.

Under these weather conditions, intermittent rains and gusty winds are likely at isolated places in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Padidan, Sanghar, Thatta, Badin, Tando Allayar, Hyderabad, Ghotki and Karachi on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the province.

Karachi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Tuesday and 36-38°C on Wednesday.

Hyderabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 37-39°C on Tuesday and 38-40°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in lower Sindh.

Rainfall (mm): Chhor 17, Mithi 05, Karachi (Jinnah Terminal, Surjani Town 01)

Sukkur and Mohenjo-Daro remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Maximum temperature in Mithi and Nawabshah was recorded at 41°C.

In Karachi, maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.

In Hyderabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 42 per cent.
