Free solar system distribution in Punjab on August 14 – Check eligibility status HERE

LAHORE – The Punjab government is all set to launch the distribution of free solar panel systems among a certain group of electricity consumers from Independence Day, which is marked on August 14 every year.

The scheme has been launched to provide relief to people, who are paying exorbitant electricity bills due to heavy taxes, fuel cost adjustments and other factors. Starting from July 2024, the federal government has also increased the base tariff, putting additional burden on masses.

With solar panel scheme, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz aims at cutting the electricity bill of consumers by 40 percent.

The chief minister will formally launch the distribution of solar panel setups among the eligible applicants from August 14, 2024.

Check Eligibility Status for Free Solar Panel Scheme

The chief minister has announced that households consuming up to 200 units per month will be eligible for the free solar panel setup, starting from Independence Day.

You can check your eligibility by simply reviewing your electricity bill. If you are a protected customer or consume up to 200 per month are eligible to get the free solar panels.

Interest Free Scheme for Others

Those are using between 200 and 500 units per month will be able to get solar panels at only 10% of the cost, with the remaining 90% subsidised by the Punjab government.

The payments will be interest-free and repaid in five years.
