ISLAMABAD – Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with his wife Bushra Bibi, was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with a new investigation into the Toshakhana case.
The arrest was team from the anti-graft watchdog led by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon at Adiala Jail, which stems from allegations related to expensive watches and jewelry.
The second Toshakhana probe reportedly centers on several luxury watches and jewelry items. Sources suggest Bushra Bibi’s involvement in the investigation and potential arrest due to alleged non-cooperation with authorities. NAB has officially launched an inquiry to uncover any possible irregularities or misconduct.
Earlier this year, a fresh case emerged accusing Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi of misusing Toshakhana privileges. NAB’s investigation focuses on the alleged unauthorized possession and sale of seven high-value watches and other valuable gifts, including diamond and gold jewelry.
Earlier in the day, Islamabad court suspended the sentence awarded to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife Illegal Nikah Case and ordered their release, but the former first lady still remained behind bars.
A team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is considering arrest of Bushra Bibi for allegedly not cooperating in their probe of a second case involving misuse of Toshakhana.
NAB filed a case against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi over allegations including illegal possession and sale of high-value items like graft watches and expensive jewelry. The investigation focuses on claims that these gifts were sold without legal authorization or proper deposit into the Toshakhana, as required by Pakistani law.
Specific allegations include sale of expensive Graff watches without following legal procedures prompted a new case.
In the previous Toshakhana case, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had their sentences suspended by the Islamabad High Court in April this year, following lower court’s decision in January to sentence them to 14 years in prison each.
